Again no lesson with D, and no performance workshop this week either. Two concerts with the brass band have kept me motivated however, and if anything improved my confidence as they both went well. I'm keeping up the work on low notes and sound and I like what it's doing for me at the moment, though it's nowhere near as round and mellow as I'd like it to be. Ideally the euphonium should be capable of sounding most exciting or very sweet, and at the moment I can do a bit of either but mostly just very straight, clear playing.
I'm worried about the holidays and how much I'll be able (or bothered) to keep up the practise routine. I really want to improve though, so I suppose I will keep it up. I may have to play with a mute a lot, which has pros and cons as mentioned before.
The bass clef piece is progressing slowly. The parts I'm familiar with sound okay, but I need to make sure I have enough breath for the top notes. On the plus side, I've noticed they aren't as difficult as they used to be, and I think my embouchure is probably better than it was. Hurrah?
