oww. i just fixed part of my coat :) my soft, longish leather jacket. it looks pretty okay. i shall call it frankencoat. the reason i'm in pain is, i (somewhat inevitably) stuck a needle into my thumb, just under the nail. i was doing so well too! the seam is pulled quite tight but it's still not very noticeable from a couple of feet away, so i'm happy. i still need to sew up the seam on the back though - i have a tendency to rip the venty bit, which isn't good. the leather itself is really easy to sew, but seams take four layers of piercing. bleh, i'll do it tomorrow... anyway i haven't got enough tough string left. based vaguely around some medieval techniques of making stronger wool which my brother showed me yesterday, i plaited some string together to make it stronger. it took forever and my hand cramped up, although it got better when i thought about things and changed my method a bit. i'll not bother going into that. i've got a little bit left that will probably do for keeping the bit that i always rip together so that it can't, but won't fix the damage i've done to the seams and, it seams, the soft leather to the side :( didn't realise i'd ripped it properly at the back. the damage at the front was easily done because the top seam of a pocket came loose, and every time i stuck my hands in my pockets (or kept something heavy in there) i tore it a little further. it looked silly.

i could probably do to polish the coat as well. i certainly need to polish and possibly wash parts of the black shoes i'm wearing (for the lunchtime concert we did in leeds. leeds town hall is pretty and it was good.), although i have weather-proofed my blue suede boots and may well tromp around in them all winter.

speaking of concerts, i'm probably going to need more smart black tops, in a variety of shapes and thicknesses. joy. i'll also be shopping for a big coat and some fluffy jumpers. let me know if you see any nice purple items around, anyone?

why was i at my brother's yesterday? well i was at home for the weekend visiting steve and my parents, and i was debating whether to help out greenalls on a remembrance day jobbie or to go see my ill uncle in sheffield, and incidentally get a lift back to hudds. well we found out he had been coughing up blood on the saturday so we went on the sunday and were surprised to find him quite talkative. he had been frited and he wasn't sure how long ago it had all happened but he talked with us a good half hour, and we half expected him to be flat out.
still, not exactly a happy visit. so then we camped on robert a bit, and then we came here and mum and dad had a cup of tea and chatted to my flatmate's boyfriend instead of letting them get on with their tea, and then, i dunno, i probably came online.
steve gave me an old headset and a webcam. woot.

i want toast. i think i can smell it. that's the problem with wheat-eating flatmates.
so i'm wondering what to go eat when i've had pasta today already, there's no cheese or yoghurt in and i can't be bothered a)shopping b)cooking or c) doing anything really, apart from sleeping.

also, my piggy bank/money counter type thing claims it has £3.78 in and i'm disinclined to believe it. although i know the often unexpected worth of a pile of pennies, i still don't think the small amount i have in there adds up to what it claims. stoopid machine.

bleah. on the whole, i'm happy.
xx
